Britain has thousands of camping spots all over the country – here are ten of the best.
1). Hidden Valley Yurts, Monmouthshire
If you want something a bit different and also off the beaten track, the five Mongolian yurts at Hidden Valley should do the trick. All the yurts have wood-burning stoves, king size beds and futons. Hidden Valley is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is just half an hour away from the Brecon Beacons.
2) North Lodge, Pembrokeshire
North Lodge is an organic freeholding and small campsite overlooking the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park, and has pitches for tents as well as B&B accommodations and a log cabin for hire. There’s plenty to do around the area including horse-riding, kayaking, fishing and golf.
3). Forestside Farm, Staffordshire
Overlooking the Dove Valley and Weave Hills, Forestside Farm is an organic dairy farm with pitches for five caravans and 12 tents. For days out, there are several National Trust properties nearby, and Forestside is less than half an hour’s drive away from Alton Towers and the Peak District.
4). Saughy Rigg Farm, Northumberland
Only half a mile from Hadrian’s Wall and within the Northumberland National Park, Saughy Rigg Farm has two camping pods for hire. Organic food is served at the on-site restaurant and there’s a bar with bar meals and local ales. Saughy Rigg is popular with walkers and all the important Roman sites are within a few miles.
5) Loch Tay Highland Lodges, Perthshire
On the quiet shores of Loch Tay but still within easy driving distance of Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow, this park has new wood lodges for hire as well as bell tents, wigwams, a Mongolian yurt and pitches for tents. Loch Tay has a restaurant on site and can rent out fishing boats with permits.
6). Cuff’s Acre Farm Camping
Cuff’s Acre Farm is just beside the Glastonbury Festival site and has pitches for eight tents. Campers can wander the farm alongside the llamas and alpacas, or walk the three miles into the city of Wells. Also nearby are the Wookey Hole Caves, Mendip Golf Club and Glastonbury Abbey.
7). Ninham Country Holidays, Isle of Wight
In a secluded spot just a few minutes from Shanklin, Ninham has pitches for 100 tents as well as caravans for hire, two lodges and pitches for motorhomes and caravans. It’s set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with beaches, cycle routes and scenic countryside.
8). Westholme Estate, North Yorkshire
Westholme Estate is a camping pod village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. There’s a restaurant and bar on site and campers are welcome to fish in their own stretch of Bishopdale Beck. The Aysgarth Falls are just ten minutes away, as is the traditional village of West Burton.
9). The Quiet Site, Cumbria
The Quiet Site is set in the fells overlooking Lake Ullswater and has pitches for 100 tents as well as lodges for hire and spaces for touring caravans and motorhomes. Activities nearby include canoe trails, pony trekking, sailing and lake cruises.
10). Siblyback Lake Campsite, Cornwall
Set on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Siblyback Lake is a small intimate site with pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans. The lake has two play areas for children and there is also a new lakeside cycle path. Siblyback Lake also has a high ropes course, fishing, archery, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.
