Just because you enjoy the great outdoors, does not mean your partner is going to feel the same about camping as well! Some people cannot bear the thought of spending time in a tent in a field, for many different reasons; however there are a few steps you can use to ensure your spouse will enjoy camping with you!
Making your partner comfortable when camping
One of the biggest reasons that people do not enjoy camping is due to it being uncomfortable or unhygienic; however this does not always have to be the case.
There are several ways that you can ensure your partner is comfortable during your camping trip, which will make them feel a lot more at ease with the outdoor world.
First, look for a camp site that has bathroom facilities. The thought of digging a hole in the ground to use as a toilet, is enough to put most people off camping, which is why there are many camping sites that offer toilets or bathroom facilities.
If your partner is extremely picky about hygiene then look for somewhere you can camp that also has shower rooms that are maintained on a regular basis, to ensure that they stay clean!
Next, you can invest in some camping furniture that will make your camping trip more comfortable and enjoyable. This could range from a blow up bed, to fold out chairs.
There are many people who do not like the idea of sleeping on the ground, even with the use of a roll mat, which is why you can get a tent friendly blow up bed for an easier sleeping experience.
Seating such as fold out chairs are cheap to buy and much more comfortable than sitting on the floor, so have a look around some camping equipment shops to see what you can get hold of!
Lastly, cooking on a camp-fire may put off a lot of people who are unsure how to cook the ‘back to basics’ way. Take along a camp stove, along with some gas canisters; so that you can cook up your partner a camp side gourmet treat!
Activities that will ensure your partner enjoys camping more
Those who prefer the indoor luxuries are likely to shudder at the thought of spending a night or two in a field doing nothing, which is why you need to plan some activities in advance.
Activities could be as simple as playing a board game, reading a book, or taking along a music player and speakers. Anything that will make your partner feel more at home is guaranteed to help them enjoy their camping trip more.
If you want to add a bit of romance into your camping trip, then why not plan some romantic activities whilst experiencing the great outdoors?
You could take a moonlight walk along a nearby stretch of water, sing songs together round a camp-fire, or perhaps open up a bottle of champagne and just enjoy each other’s company in the peace and quiet of the countryside by candlelight.
If you are looking for some daytime activities, why not bring a picnic basket filled with strawberries, mini treats and other food your partner loves? Getting them involved with buying and making the food for this before you leave is bound to get them excited for their camping trip!
Camping is not for everyone, however if it is a passion you want your spouse to enjoy with you then there are a few ways of going about it.
Always make sure your partner is comfortable with their surroundings, especially if they are not keen on leaving behind their home luxuries. Invest in some decent camping furniture, a stove and make sure your camp site has toilet facilities, to make it as close to home as possible.
There are so many activities that you two can enjoy together whilst camping, so make sure you make a list of things you want to do on your trip. Getting them involved with the planning beforehand should hopefully put them in the right mood for an outdoor adventure with you!
